Empowering Education. Adult Learning Platform Redesign

The Literacy Information and Communication System, funded by the Department of Education, empowers adult education practitioners and learners across the United States. Through its resources and opportunities for adult educators, the initiative works to foster collaboration to drive improved educational outcomes. Our small team is working to modernize this digital platform into a more user-centric, accessible, and engaging space, ensuring it aligns with the diverse needs of adult educators throughout the country.

Approach

  • Conducted in-depth research and collaborated closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gain insights into user needs, pain points, and goals.

  • Content Refinement: Worked with the team of content experts to streamline and refine content, ensuring it meets the needs of both practitioners and learners.

  • MVP began with streamlined navigation for a simpler site structure with dedicated sections for key features.

  • Created a custom design system based off of USWDS standards for modernization, accessibility priority and efficiency.

  • Enhanced the resources section for improved access to key trainings
